about

Sketching an image of a Swampland that needs to be waded through, this song symbolizes the act of overcoming a feeling of shame, which is largely inspired by Brené Browns famous ted-talk. The story is musically translated to a tight and almost marching groove that naturally evolves into an open sound-universe, where upward vibraphone scales and the harp take you on an emotional rollercoaster-ride.

lyrics

Word for word I tell you, you tell me
Why did I share every single detail?
Inhale no longer covered by my armor
Can we take it

Step by step I lead you, you lead me
On, unaware of what might follow
Swallow my pride doesn’t make me proud of myself
Then you leave me

Wading through the swampland of my shame
Waiting till I no longer feel blamed
Hoping I will finally find my own peace

Piece by piece I showed you, you show me
Where did the road I’m on turn sharp left
Where you left me

Wading through the swampland of my shame
Waiting till I no longer feel blamed
Hoping I will find the final game piece

The piece to cross and be free
Where nobody can see that I’m the only one

One by one I give you, you give me
Signs, signing off on a note of
Worry, hurry and bail on me I’m about to fail, on three
But I was on this trail all along, why is that so wrong?

Wading through the swampland of my shame
Waiting till I no longer feel pain
Knowing I have finally found the right key

To cross, now I’m free
For everybody to see that I’m not the only one
